His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the Presidential Court, inaugurated the floating hospital—a significant addition to the UAE’s humanitarian relief and emergency-response capabilities. His Highness also reviewed the hospital’s operational readiness, advanced medical facilities and specialized equipment.
Gulf Drug is proud to have delivered this fully integrated project, transforming a former vehicle cargo ship into a 100-bed floating hospital—the first project of its kind in the world. Gulf Drug’s scope extended far beyond the supply and installation of medical equipment.
The company delivered the project’s comprehensive construction, MEP and infrastructure works, providing an end-to-end turnkey solution from planning and execution through to commissioning and operational readiness. The construction and outfitting works included the necessary structural and steel modifications to the vessel, the reconfiguration of its internal spaces, and the development of specialized medical departments and patient rooms. They also covered insulation, ceilings, flooring, doors and specialized architectural finishes designed to meet both medical and maritime requirements. The MEP scope included power-generation and distribution systems; air-conditioning, ventilation, air-quality and room-pressure control; water-supply and drainage networks; fire-fighting and alarm systems; medical-gas networks; elevators; and centralized building-management and control systems.
